Descending the Sella in canoe
Each August an international sporting event, the Descent of the Sella Festival, brings together professionals and amateurs who race down-river in kayaks and canoes from Arriondas to Ribadesella. During the rest of the year you can emulate them by taking a canoe down-river.
Asturias’ wide-variety of landscapes makes it the ideal place to practice horse-riding, from autochthonous forest, pretty villages, rivers and rough trails. There are trails adapted to all levels of riding ability available.
Quad-bikes can be driven by anyone with a standard driving-licence and can take a passenger too. There are routes of varying difficulty and duration and over many different types of terrain, all in the vicinity of Cangas de Onís.
Two or three opposing teams equipped with protective clothing and armed with paintball guns participate in this game, which is fought out in a large wooded area. The aim is to score maximum points throughout the numerous games played during the day, always respecting the safety rules.
Canyoning is a mix of climbing and water sport that consists of descending the upper reaches of rivers equipped with ropes, helmets and life-jackets. Waterfalls, rock pools and narrows defiles are overcome by climbing, abseiling and swimming.
Accompanied by a guide visit a natural cave with multiple galleries separated by narrow tunnels through which clients have to crawl or drag themselves. There are numerous different caves in the Cangas de Onís area for clients to visit.
Shoot the rapids in inflatable rafts for six or eight persons in the upper reaches of the Rivers Sella and Deva accompanied by a qualified guide.
